I paid $199 for my 7100t in Oct 2004 after an instant discount applied at a T-Mo store, “so I don’t have to wait for the rebate” as the T-Mo rep said. But, in fact, I still qualified for (and received) the $100 rebate. And, although it was an upgrade, I didn’t use up the upgrade credits on this purchase.

Final cost: $99 (+ tax on $299).
