After doing what you describe, Fred, I ran into the same problem of not being able to have a functioning Browser. The reason is because of all the deleted Service Books. If you log on to Blackberry wireless online, you can get it to resend your Service Books to your Blackberry. I have Verizon, and did it all without having to get someone on the phone and wait for them to walk me through troubleshooting steps.

After uninstalling the service books you need to re register on the RIM network. Most devices this is done by going to Options>Adv Options>Host Routing Tables>click the trackwheel or menu key>Register Now. If it’s successful, you’ll have a message in your messages box.

i can open everything else except jpgs, is this something i need to configure on the BES server so that it works on the handhelds? what is the size limitations on jpgs and other files?

Sam, It should reinstall after a few minutes. If not contact your carrier and have them reset it. If you notice, I did it while in contact with Cingular. I don’t know if she did it or not but my browser installed shortly after the reboot..

I had a lot of problems getting mine to open attachments until I got hold of the right person at Cingular. She had me open Settings>Options>Advanced Options>Service Book. She had me delete everything in the Service Book except “Provisioning [PROVISIONING]” it won’t delete. Then turn off my Blackberry and remove the battery for about 30 seconds. When I booted it back up it re-registered my Blackberry and everything worked fine even attachments.
