Intellisync Corporation, a leading developer and marketer of wireless software for the worldwide mobile communications industry, announced today that it has teamed with Sony Ericsson and Ingram Micro to provide a complete mobility solution for retail and VAR customers of Ingram Micro. This combined offering will feature an out-of-the-box wireless push email solution — “Powered by Intellisync(TM)” — provisioned on Sony Ericsson P910a smartphones.
The joint solution will ship with a SIM card and the Intellisync client, written as an application for the P910a’s Symbian OS. Intellisync’s client will enable wireless email and systems management capabilities, such as theft/loss protection or backup and restore, via a service offering hosted by Intellisync. Ingram Micro — the world’s largest technology distributor and a leading technology sales, marketing and logistics company — will offer the complete bundle to its expansive network of VARS and retail wireless resellers.
“For this joint wireless email solution, it was critical to select a mobility software provider who could seamlessly and securely connect our P910a smartphones to virtually any of today’s popular Internet email or corporate groupware servers,” said Gregor Bleimann, head of Enterprise Business Solutions at Sony Ericsson.
Intellisync enables users of P910a smartphones to connect to leading groupware/email servers such as Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino, along with POP and IMAP mail servers, for delivery of push-based email, calendars, contacts and tasks. Intellisync received Network Computing magazine’s 2004 Well-Connected Award as “Best Mobile Wireless Email System,” and has been recognized by Gartner as one of only two “Challengers” to RIM in the wireless email category.
