I have just bought a Curve and installed the Desktop Manager. Most of the programme seems to work fine. However, is there any way I can view, on my desktop, the contents of the desktop backup file downloaded from my Curve? I don’t seem to have a programme to read its contents. Or perhaps this is a meaningless question derived from a misunderstanding of the role of back up files.

I am trying to back up my address list on my home computer. I don’t have a problem backing it up at work where we have a Blackberry Enterprise server. However, when I try to back it up on my home computer, under the “Back/Restore Now” dialog box, the backup and restore buttons are “greyed out” and inoperable. Only the “Advancedd” button works. Can you help me resolve this problem?

i have a blackberry storm, and I am trying to back up to my MAC, but when I sync it I get an error message (error 1) skipping what should I do?

  12. 12 lost my data when everything was not everything

BEWARE… backng up “everything on your device” led me to believe all the data on the SD card would also be backed up. So when I decided to reformat the 8GB SD card on my newly updated BB OS v4.6 to gain the additional 4GB beyond what v4.2 could see, I backed everything up using the desktop manager, reformatted the SD card from 4GB to 8GB, and did a restore. To my horror, I had just gained an empty 8GB SD card and lost all 4GB of data that was there before the “backup” – reformat – restore process. So, BEWARE and realize that “everything” does not seem to include everything, only the BB databases. Use other means to backup any data on the SD card. Arrggghhh. Painful lesson, and my first real disappointment in a year of using the 8310 Curve.
