Ramp Corporation today announced that it has joined the BlackBerry ISV Alliance Program to deliver the HealthRamp CarePoint(TM) electronic prescribing solution for the BlackBerry® Wireless Platform, developed by Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM – News). Ramp, through its HealthRamp subsidiary, develops and markets the CarePoint and CareGiver technology suites.

The BlackBerry version of CarePoint combines best in class technologies from two worlds. CarePoint for the BlackBerry wireless platform will have the electronic prescribing features and benefits enjoyed by healthcare professionals who use CarePoint today, united with the power, simplicity and mobility valued by millions of BlackBerry users worldwide. The ubiquitous and dependable nature of BlackBerry, packaged with CarePoint is expected to encourage physician adoption of electronic prescribing nationwide.

“As a long-time user of electronic prescribing technology, I am extremely excited about the innovative alliance between HealthRamp and RIM. The goal of allowing a physician to speak naturally into a BlackBerry device, in order to produce an accurate prescription, and be able to modify it before emailing it, could be the breakthrough needed to drive widespread adoption of electronic prescribing. Busy physicians like myself need an intuitive device like BlackBerry, which meets many of their productivity needs, and allows them to use electronic prescribing virtually immediately,” said Dr. Daniel Sway of College Hill Medical in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“Electronic prescribing is a complementary and valuable application for the BlackBerry platform,” said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Corporate Marketing at Research In Motion. “Together with HealthRamp, we can help keep medical professionals connected and productive at the point-of-care and beyond.”

“We are excited to work with RIM to bring CarePoint to BlackBerry users in the healthcare field. The ease of use of BlackBerry is in strong harmony with CarePoint’s intuitive nature. Combining our efforts, we believe that we can bring truly innovative solutions for physicians, across one comprehensive platform,” stated Andrew Brown, Ramp President and CEO.

Ramp Corporation, through its wholly-owned HealthRamp subsidiary, develops and markets the CareGiver and CarePoint suite of technologies. CareGiver enables long term care facility staff to easily place orders for drugs, treatments and supplies from a wireless handheld PDA or desktop web browser. CarePoint enables electronic prescribing, lab orders and results, Internet-based communication, data integration, and transaction processing over a handheld device or browser, at the point-of-care. HealthRamp’s products enable communication of value-added healthcare information among physician offices, pharmacies, hospitals, pharmacy benefit managers, health management organizations, pharmaceutical companies and health insurance companies.
