Newest Blackberry, “Electron”?

Palmlive.com has a picture of a new rumored Blackberry dubbed “Blackberry Electron”. It looks to be a wider version of the Blackberry 7100g case, even including the three buttons for call control at the top and getting rid of the conventional power button right below the “Enter” key. We have to admit that this “new” Blackberry is an improvement over the current generation but obviously we can not verify the validity of the picture.

looks more like a 72xx style case then a 7100g. The screen looks short and fat vs. the taller 7100 screen. Anyway, palmlive.com doesn’t seem to exist.

I like the 75XX body styles. To me, that’s what this looks like. When is the scheduled release for the Electron?

Any idea which carrier will have this phone? Also, why does verizon seem to be the last carrier to have new RIM devices?

Is that a TFT screen? of just enhanced in the photo.

RIM/Nextel are testing the 7100i which is a little thicker and with a fixed antenna on top (same place as the antenna on the 7520). This device is being tested now as a beta, and should be out in November (mid to late) for the general market.

I just sat next to a guy who works for Cingular who had an electron prototype. It looked sweet. It seems to bridge the 72xx and 71xx styles. More narrow that the 72xx, wider than 71xx but with full keyboard and the best screen I have seen. He said it would be available late this year by Cingular only. Sign me up.
