Long time readers will realize that we like instant messaging programs. Your Blackberry already has the capability to send and receive email but sometimes we just need a response right away. In this review we take a look at Berryvine 2.0 by RSIC a MSN instant messenger program for your Blackberry. Read further to see what we have to say …
Installing
Berryvine install is an executable which will directly install the application straight to your Blackberry or you can do it the old fashion way with the Application Loader. The .exe use the Application Loader but without the user actually having to open it. Either way the installation is simple and straight forward.
Setting up
When you first start Berryvine it brings you to a start up screen, where you either choose to set your preferences or to login right away. In preferences you can set up enter your MSN account information so you can have your login saved. Otherwise every time you want to sign in you will have to manually enter your login information, this is actually a good option for security reasons. Other preferences you can toggle are your status, sound, vibrate, or the ability to hide offline contacts which we found is a must for anyone with a large contact list.
Connecting
Connecting is made simple, there is a “Force MDS connection†which will solve most connection issue. RSIC also added a diagnostics feature where it will test various ports and see if they are able to connect.
Contact list
This is clean and to the point. Adding/removing contacts is easy and only takes a couple of clicks. My contact list held 19 contacts which are all viewable within a scroll or two. Online at the top of each group and offline listed below in each group. Online and offline differentiated by online being a purple group of grapes and offline being red group of grapes.
