When adding transactions, the balance is automatically calculated on the fly so you are able to track any anomalies between what you have on your Blackberry and what you’re bank account displays. eCheckRegister also supports the ability to have multiple accounts.
The best feature of the program has to be that you are able to send a detailed log of your transactions to your email in CSV or HTML format. This allows you to print a copy of your transaction for backup purposes or integrate your transactions into an Excel spreadsheet. The developers do not specifically mention that the program can integrate into Quicken or Microsoft Money but with a few changes to the CSV spreadsheet we’re guessing you can, however we were unable to test that. You should note that when sending the transaction log by email it doesn’t go through your Blackberry but a SMTP server you need to specify. Because it goes through a HTTP connection, WAP users make sure that your handheld is configured for tcp/ip connection. We’re guessing RIM has blocked 3rd party software automatically emailing out from your Blackberry for security reasons.
The program is not perfect, our biggest issue is that you can’t separate transactions by time but other than that we are very pleased with the program. Hopefully in the next program update they will add this feature, and while we’re at it we should probably mention that we also want to see direct links to various bank’s WAP site so we know exactly our account balance.
The program is available for $6.50 at Neon Toad, hhttp://www.neontoad.com
