Thanks to all that participated in the ‘Future of RIM’ Weekend Contest, the responses were very insightful and indepth. The main consensus from many of the participants is that RIM is at a cross roads and these times will be telling times for whether RIM has the strength to stay and prosper with the growing threat from other companies.

Unlocking Blackberry 7100

If you are ever going to be travelling overseas with your Blackberry and require phone service you will need to unlock your handheld so it can connect to other networks. Thanks to volcomwrx, he has outlined the steps below:

To Unlock:

1. On the Home screen, click the Tools icon. The Options screen appears.

2. In the tools screen, select the Settings icon.

3. Scroll to SIM Card and select it. You should see the phone number and the SIM ID number.

4. Type ‘meppd’ to display the first five levels of SIM locking. T-Mobile uses network locking so the Network should display Active. All other states should display Disabled

5. Type ‘mepp2′ to display the dialog box asking for the unlock code (Press the Alt + 2 key to get the number 2)

6. Input the SIM Unlock code (16 digits provided by carrier)

7. Press ENTER and reboot handheld.

Cellphone Vital For American Bosses

Most people have one technology tool they can’t live without. For financial executives, it’s the cell phone. In a USA survey of chief financial officers (CFOs), cell phones topped the list as the most indispensable portable technology device, with 44% of the response. Laptop computers came in close second, cited by 39% of executives polled.

Similar surveys in 2002 and 1999 also found the cell phone to be CFOs’ tool of choice, as 46% and 51% of respondents, respectively, said it was their favorite electronic communication device. Laptops ranked second, with 33% of the response in 2002 and 26% in 1999.

Weekend Contest ‘Future of RIM’

This weekend’s contest is entitled ‘Future of RIM’. With the Intel partnership rumor heating up, huge stock price fluctuations, and the increasing pressure of upcoming competition, it makes these times very interesting for RIM. We want to know what your opinion on RIM’s future is, and what they should do to stay successful. The winners will be chosen randomly and will be announced Monday morning.

This week’s prize is 5 copies of the new WiseSpent 3.0, the financial tracking program for your Blackberry. You will be one of the first to have the program when it is officially release sometime in the beginning of next month.
