Google Stripping
Google has launched it’s own service similiar to Skweezer, which acts like a proxy by retrieving a website and stripping all the excess html so it becomes more mobile friendly. Actually, we shouldn’t say released because this new service is not even named nor the web page branded with anything Google – very rare for them. Our guess is that this new stripping website service may be the early test of a possible new Google mobile browser which will automatically optimize pages for mobile viewing. They did afterall, purchase the Waterloo-based Reqwireless which made one of the more popular 3rd party browsers. But in the meantime, you should bookmark the following pages because it does make browsing much easier, especially for non EDGE or EVDO-capable Blackberrys.

Visit the following website in your Blackberry:

I wouldn’t really rate this as a “new” service. If you do a search from your BB or other mobile device at http://www.google.com/xhtml then click on a link within the sites returned you will receive a “mobile optimized” version. This has been like this for some time. You may have just exposed the interface on Google for directly accessing this.
