The Order of Canada has 56 new appointees. The award, established in 1967, is Canada’s highest honour for lifetime achievment in a variety of fields. Joining the ranks this year are Mike Lazaridis, co-CEO of RIM and inventor of the Blackberry device.
The appointees will be formally inducted into the order in a ceremony at a later date, says a statement from the office of Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean.
