What is required to use the push technology in Windows Mobile 5.0?

1. Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2

2. Windows Mobile 5 devices that have Messaging Security and Feature Pack MSFP/AKU 2.0 (Application Kit Update) integrated -- all new devices from Q2 2006 will probably have this integrated. However, existing Windows Mobile 5 devices will need an upgrade -- check with your OEM/Operator to find out when they will upgrade. As of this writing, there is only one known operator in Europe who has the update.

In conclusion, comparing this is pre-mature until the Direct Push in AKU is available.

The MSFP/AKU 2.0 has been released to the carriers and OEMs. It is now up to them to get it out onto new devices and provide ROM updates for existing devices.
