Google Local For Blackberry

When Google Local for the Blackberry came out we couldn’t get a proper screenshot but hopefully this will do. Thanks to ‘gadget’ who sent us these pictures which show how the program works. As you can see from the top photo, this is the default map view which has boxes numbered from 1-9. These numbered boxes represent business search results, ie if you search for ‘chinese’ those points would represent chinese restaurants. Navigation is easy, just hit the corresponding number to get the business’ information like address and phone. From there you can also get directions to the location making it easier to find because street names are not always displayed due to the small screen limitation.

The second picture is a Satellite view, which is pretty self-explanatory.

Instead of photographing a BlackBerry for a screenshot, use JavaLoader (from the BlackBerry JDE). I wrote a batch file leverage some of the command line switches available through JavaLoader. I posted it on BlackBerryForums.com until the thread JL_Cmder.

The only catch… The BlackBerry MUST be running BlackBerry OS 4.0.2 or higher.
