CSL, RIM launch Yahoo Messenger on Blackberry

Yahoo! BlackBerryHong Kong mobile operator CSL and Research in Motion (RIM) have launched Yahoo Messenger on Blackberry. CSL customers can now access Yahoo’s instant messenger platform on their Blackberry devices.

The Yahoo Messenger service on the Blackberry platform offers the same basic functionality as the desktop version. Blackberry users can access and manage existing Yahoo contact lists and monitor contacts’ presence status. CSL Blackberry users can also customise their devices with special ringtones for Yahoo Messenger messages.

    Yahoo Messenger will install, but not work on a Verizon 7250. Comes up with an error to visit http://www.blackberry/go/yahoo to activate your account. The web site just brings you to the download page and (for me) errors out when trying to download again.

    If you’re on Verizon it might because of Verizon. I noticed they aren’t listed as a supported vendor.

    same thing for me – a cingular customer. i was able to install yahoo messenger and spent hecka long time with tech support but neither one could figure this out. it’s very frustrating to know that i’ve spent the whole night trying to make it work but it didn’t.
