Push Weather Information Right To Your Blackberry

Push Weather
In a demonstration of the “push” capabilities of the Blackberry technology, RIM has released a push weather information service. You can register for the service to get weather information pushed directly to your handheld either once or twice a day. This service is not new, it’s atleast a year old but use to only function on a limited amount of carriers but it now seems available on most carriers and handhelds running OS 4.0+.

What we’re hoping for are additional push services like sports results and possibly stock information.

To sign up to get weather pushed to your handheld, just visit the following website on your Blackberry:

    It would be a nice service if at various times it didn’t just stop being pushed. But more the problem is the horrible weather forcasts, from rain all day to sunny in a couple hours and temps way off. I’ve learned to read the weather here with a few large rocks of salt.

    I tried doing this in my cingular, but I get an error message that it’s only available in Blackberry internet browsing service.

    The Internet Browser is required for this service. If your BlackBerry is configured on a BES through your corporation, your company could block that browser from showing up. For example, I have one called “BlackBerry Browser” but it will not work. Our company blocks the Internet Browser and forces us to use the BlackBerry Browser through our corporate firewall.

    This is a cool service…until it stops pushing. I finally took it off my handheld because it was so unreliable.

    I found this push service to be unreliable. I just downloaded the new weather application from The Weather Channel. It rocks on my 7130. A little pricey, but worth the $ if you’re active outdoors.

    works great on verizon with one exception – ther eis an icon with seattle weather only (that’s where I live) but I only care about denver weather and recevie it via text msg instead.

    Temps and forecasts seem to be inline with reality more so than the local news stations

    Very unreliable service. When first activated, it pushes the forecast for a few days, then just stops. BB7290 on Rogers GPRS (Canada).

    Have found it to be very helpful with regular updates.UK weather changes by the minute so will see when the going gets tough!Love the way the desktop push icon changes!!

    Hey for all of you who would like to delete the push weather service off of your device follow these instructions: go to your devices browser, go to your book marks, scroll all the way to the bottom highlight the weather link, press menu, then delete

    To uninstall this service you have to load it in the browser. Then select push weather. then agree to the terms. then delete the offending city location.

    This app is nice, but it’s nearly impossible to figure out how to remove. I moved to another city and wanted to remove the old city, but it took me forever to do it. You should be able to simply click delete and never have it come back! But no, that doesn’t work. It keeps popping up again. Fortunately, I did figure it out…
