Orange UK To Cut Up To 2,000 Staff

Announcing that they must become more “lean and agile” and that their cost base needs to be lower, Orange said Thursday it will cut 15% of its jobs in the UK, a move that will mean the loss of 1,800 to 2,000 jobs. The company said that the restructuring was part of an ongoing effort to adapt to customer needs in an increasingly competitive environment.

Effective immediately, the ‘new’ Orange UK will have a single executive team. Bernard Ghillebaert will head up the UK business, continuing to report to Sanjiv Ahuja. Former Wanadoo CEO Eric Abensur will be vice president responsible for Broadband reporting to Bernard.
