Those lucky Germans get to have all the fun. RIM announced today that Germany will be the first to receive the BlackBerry 8707 through carrier Vodafone. Of course, the big news about the 8707 is its UMTS network support, being the first BlackBerry to support the GSM-evolved 3G standard.
“The BlackBerry 8707v elegantly integrates advanced hardware and software technologies in a stylish and lightweight handset that supports UMTS networks and Vodafone Germany already offers UMTS support in 1800 German cities,†said Hartmut Kremling, CTO of Vodafone Germany. “With the ability to use the handset as a modem for laptops, the BlackBerry 8707v also offers users another great way to stay connected.â€
