Better World Cup Solutions Discovered

4Info logo If you think that SHAPE Services’ World Cup Scoreboard mentioned below is a little too expensive for one month of use (and judging from some of the emails we’ve gotten, you do), we’ve found a better solution. 4Info and Opera have teamed up to offer World Cup mobile text and web browsing services.

You can send a text query to 4Info (44636) for scores, schedules, and standings or, for $2.99, set up automated text alerts to be delivered for every goal scored by one team or by all teams in the tournament. For the web browsing inclined, Opera has released a special version of their Opera Mini mobile browser. The Goal 06 Mini browser allows users to keep track of their favorite teams with live scores and breaking news updates.

Here are some of the 4Info text queries to help you get started:

- For team scores, text TEAM NAME (ex: “england”)
- For all daily scores, text “world cup”

- For group standings, text STANDING + TEAM NAME (ex: “standing mexico”)
