RIM has appointed advertising agency Figtree to handle the BlackBerry brand image across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Apparently, RIM is looking for a company that can back their desire to reject over-complicated brand models and adopt a clear brand image. Figtree works on the brand strategy “What do you want to be famous for?”, and applies it to the brands it works across.
Figtree’s strategy director and co-founder, Simon Myers, has worked at Interbrand on clients such as Barclays, Ocado and Orange, while recent client projects for Figtree include Orange, Mazda, Sony Ericsson, Stanhope, Jefferson Communications and Disney Mobile. Figtree will be working closely with fellow advertising agency Albion, who are now preparing a launch campaign for the 7130 model across Europe.
