Operators switching to GSM

A report by the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) is showing that as many as 25 CDMA operators are switching to the GSM network family (GSM/EDGE, WCDMA-HSDPA) in the wake of failing market share. While some operators are going the dual system route, most are fully migrating their customer base to GSM.

GSM is the global standard for mobile communications, with CDMA not found that much outside of North America. The migration to GSM will only be helped by Nokia’s announcement that they’re stopping production of CDMA devices.
