HTC’s TyTN reviewed

HTC TyTNTechDigest has a review up of HTC’s first branded smartphone, the TyTN. The TyTN is HTC’s first Windows Mobile Pocket PC device under their own brand name (although why they decided to cop Motorola’s four-letter naming convention for their first branded device is a mystery).

So how does this Tri-Band UMTS, Quad-Band EDGE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi device fair? TechDigest likes the TyTN’s size and large screen, BlackBerry-like scrollwheel, and full QWERTY sliding keypad.

The bad then? As with most Pocket PC devices, the TyTN’s phone capabilities are pretty buried. TechDigest also didn’t like the poor, 2 megapixel camera and uncovered MicroSD slot (which could easily be ruined by dirt or sand).

If you’re interested in learning more about the TyTN, Mobility Today has some hands-on screenshots and a long-winded video review up on their site.
