Recently, BlackBerry Cool has reported some concerns about RIM’s chances for success in Japan. One of the biggest complaints stemmed from the fact that RIM will not make any device or software redesigns to the BlackBerry to allow for Japanese character input, which seemed like a pretty big deal at the time.
HOWEVER, faithful reader John Danger pointed us to Namikiteru. Besides having a great name, Namikiteru is also NTT DoCoMo’s mobility solution company, which provides — you guessed it — a read and write Japanese software solution for BlackBerrys. Called Namimail, the software is now offered preinstalled on all BlackBerrys from DoCoMo USA. Good stuff.
