The GSA (aka, the Global mobile Suppliers Association) has some great news for all you 3.5G fans out there. A new data survey has been released by the GSA stating that the number of HSDPA networks planned, in deployment or launched has reached 108 in 51 countries. 45 commercial HSDPA networks have also launched worldwide, which is growth of 150% over the past three months.
HSDPA, of course, stands for High Speed Downlink Packet Access and is the first evolution of WCDMA 3G networks. And yes, we’re calling it 3.5G and not 3.25G or something silly like that (because Wikipedia said so).
