PCWorld.com has placed their top-five chart of recent PDA/Smartphones from the September issue of PC World Magazine up online. Who’s number one? Palm’s Treo 700p.
Despite a steep price ($650 with a two-year contract from Sprint) and unimpressive battery performance, the 700p wowed us with its thoughtful design and lightning-fast speed. Like the Windows Mobile-based Treo 700w (number four on our chart), the 700p includes support for high-speed EvDO networks, which makes surfing the Web using its Blazer Web browser a real pleasure.
Where was BlackBerry on the chart? Well, actually, it didn’t make it, with the BlackBerry 8700g coming in at an “also-ran” number six. The full rankings can be found after the jump.
#1 Palm Treo 700p (81%)
#2 T-Mobile Sidekick 3 (80%)
#3 T-Mobile MDA (79%)
#4 Palm Treo 700w (79%)
#5 Motorola Q (78%)

“Where was BlackBerry on the chart? Well, actually, it didn’t make it…”
How is this even remotely possible?
The motorola q is junk. Haven’t used the others. I love my 8700.
The 8700g got a 76 rating. Which is a composite of three values:
Performance: 97 (superior)
Features: 62 (fair)
Design: 80 (Very good)
The main complaint: No camera.
The Trio 700p got an 81 rating (perf: 60, feat: 71, design: 91). The Q got a 78 (65, 88, 71).
just got an mda after a couple years of suffering with the 7100t. my god, they don’t compare. i think RIM needs to get their heads out of their butts when it comes to consumer needs. even your daughter’s sidekick send email faster than a 7100t with a wait icon kicking in every 5 seconds.
