Why is it so hard to put a camera into the current BB’s without having to totally change it from top to bottom? No click wheel or full QWERTY keyboard? It might as well not even be called a BB anymore.

It looks to be a scroll ball, and not a d-pad. So, it could be a scroll ball, like in those Golf Arcade Games at the bars. You just wind up, and woosh! It scrolls down to the bottom.

How do you know unless you try it? Nobody had a jogwheel back in the day, and it took some getting used to. No there will be a bit of a learning curve, but hey, there’s the possibility that there’s no more need to alt-scroll to navigate vertically.

It’s interesting to re-read the post on BBhub regarding this.

It seems that BBHub goes from noting that there is no scroll wheel on the 8100 to stating that there will no longer be a scroll wheel on any other new BB devices. That seems quite a leap, esp, as you note, that BBHub offers no source on that rumor.

I can believe that there will be no scroll wheel on any new 8100 model…that there may be no scroll wheel on any of the consumer models…but I just cannot believe that RIM would drop the scroll wheel on all devices, esp. those aimed at the enterprise segment.

To me the scroll wheel is one of the major advantages of the BB.

It is a huge loss, even in a model as exciting as this one. I can’t imagine that d-pad, joystick, whatever you want to call it, can work as well.

In fact, even if I get this model once it comes out, I will still want a BB with scrollwheel for serious usage.

I certainly hope it is not true that all forthcoming BBs will drop the scroll wheel. If that is true, RIM has made its first major mistake and risks losing market share, esp. in the enterprise segment.
