Weekend Contest: “Which BlackBerry do you want?”

Tetris baby, yeah!

There’s nothing worse than the dog days of summer, especially when you know that the coming fall and winter months will bring not one, but three new BlackBerrys: the 8100, the 8200 and the yet unnamed WiFi QWERTY BlackBerry. So the question then becomes which one do you want? Does the nascent Pearl tickle your fancy, or are you willing to wait a bit longer for the full QWERTY 8200 version? Or maybe you don’t care about multimedia at all, and want a true “Electron” successor with WiFi. Post a comment and let us know. The winner will receive a free version of Tetris from Handmark.

LAST WEEK’S WINNER was Solomon. While we liked JimBob’s post (and his Treo diss, natch), Solomon threw some crazy scientific jargon at us that made us feel dizzy, so we’re gonna give it to him so he doesn’t zap us with “biometrics” or something.

    I started with a 957, went to a 7230 then a 7100. now I am attached to an 8700. After trying both QWERTY and SureType models, I think I will hold out for the tricked out QWERTY based 8200. And having a copy of Tetris for it would make it all the better!! :)

    My BB timeline is as follows 950(2mb) -> 6280 -> 7730 -> 7290 -> 7100t[1 week] -> 7290 -> 8700g -> [Future] 8707g -> 8200g

    I tried the SureType w/ and w/o the autocomplete…for people who are used to SMS’ing on phones I’m sure it’s better solution.

    For a long time user, promoter and addict; I need to be able to type as I want to. Using acronyms[not possible w/ suretype] or typing shorthand, e.g., ‘w/’ for with.

    The 7100 and 8100 series are phones..for people who want better typing abilities.

    All other units are 2 way messaging devices which now include phones; they’ve improved the phone functionality greatly over time on these units.

    My only wish…that they hadn’t gotten rid of the orange shift key from the 950/7 models. Tring to tell people, look fo the ‘half moon’ key is confusing to some.

    (Much like Veruca Salt(Obscure reference to Willy Wonka)) I was on there verge of moving to MDA or the SDA. But with the leaked images of the Pearl, and the upcoming release by my carrier T-Mobile. I am will remain a faithful to my Blackberry.

    i really want the pearl but since i have a contract with nextel who knows when i’ll ever get it since there the last carrier to ever get any new blackberries but when they do get the new one i hope that it’s the 8200 since i really like the full keyboard over the sure type because i have a lot of friends that i email to in spanish and the sure type sucks for that

    Electron or Voltron or Megatron or whatever-tron!

    I’ve exhausted most, if not all of the features on my 8700g and I’m eagerly awaiting its successor. A camera and expandable memory would be nice. Even a media player would help, but the biggest change I’d like to see is form factor. Slim designs are in so RIM and Palm need to catch up and start slimmin’ down. I think the pearl is a step in the right direction.
