[...] Is this really going to be Palm’s new image? Some HTC Excalibur knock-off that hit every branch on the way down the fugly tree? If so, the Treo 800w is going the last hoo-rah at a recognizable image, but also shows that Palm is eschewing the PDA end of things in favour of smartphone development. The shots are Vodafone branded and running Windows Mobile Standard for now, but we’ll see what changes are made to this crime against good taste before it’s released. [...]

[...] Well, technically speaking, Unwired reviewed the smartphone formerly known as the Excalibur, full-name being the O2 Xda cosmo Windows Mobile Smartphone (maybe their Prince fans, maybe they’ll have a symbol for it next week). We talked a little bit about the Excalibur last week, and while there’s no pretty hands to speak of this time, there’s still some solid info. All the features … are pretty standard, for top class smart phones, but the highlight of the device, which makes it so different to all previous HTC Windows Mobile Smartphones, is the integrated thumb-keyboard and the HTC JOGGR control pad, which replaces the rocker/wheels, previously used for Smartphones.
