Lots of great things have made it our way across the pond from the UK: The Office, English tea, and now this article from Guardian Unlimited explaining competitive tactics against the BlackBerry. The article cites Palm’s declining stock, as did we, but the article mentions that certain partnerships they’ve garnered could help them squash RIM and the BlackBerry. In a statement that Mr. Laziridus or Balsillie could have spewed today regarding the Pearl (but obviously without their charm), Palm VP John Hartnett had the following to say
“We want to reach beyond techies and pure business people… It’s a long-term strategy: closed solutions solve today’s need, but an open platform will win in the long run.”
Thanks for the insight, sir. It’s unfortunate that it’s a long-term strategy as Palm could use some help asap. Interesting to see how this one plays out.
