Samsung’s SGH-i607 ready for battle

Comments

Cingular’s preparing to scoop up and scoop out the most recent Q-killer (I think it’s already been murdered, personally). The folks over at Engadget Mobile note that the Windows Mobile-running Samsung SGH-i607 is “expected to bring quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE / HSDPA data, Bluetooth, MicroSD expansion”. That’s not all – it’s got a side-mounted scroll wheel. And THAT’S not all. That wheel is said to be “on-par, or better than those on RIM devices.”

Listen, Samsung – I can slap on a pair of sunglasses and sing in baritone, but that doesn’t mean I’m Robert Goulet. A side-mounted scroll wheel isn’t what put RIM on the map – it’s the overall device. Interesting to see where this beast ends up a few months past it’s release date.

Yawn…another Windows Mobile device, which means it will fail in the marketplace.

Windows Mobile cripples any device it is installed in.

The problem with the Q in the first place wasn’t the Moto hardware…it was Windows Mobile. Until there is dramatic improvement in WM, all such devices will have a hard time succeeding.
