Breaking Down the BlackBerry 8800 (and friends?)

Now onto the two other devices — one of which is fairly obviously a Vodafone BlackBerry, the other which is speculated to be a T-Mobile BlackBerry. Set to debut in Q2 2007 (in both Europe and the US if the forums’ sources can be trusted), these devices have been labeled “Crimson” and will feature a camera (probably still 1.3 megapixels). Interestingly, these devices are noticeably different in general construction than the “Indigo” (less blocky, more of a curved keypad) and may not even be 8800 devices (whether that means 88xx or some other numerical distinction, we can’t say). No word yet on whether “Crimson” will feature any kind of RAM/CPU upgrade.

So that’s pretty much all we know about the “Gamma Rays” so far. But we’ll let good friend of BlackBerry Cool, BlackBerryForums Super Moderator Jibi, have the last word and sum it all up for you:

Wi-Fi at the end of the year; Wi-Fi + Camera around the first of Q2 next year. So, either have your cutting edge cake this year and spend more next; or wait 4 months

As always, we’ll keep you informed.

Now that is a Blackberry worth waiting for.

I like the Crimson.I’ll buy the Crimson on the day one when it comes out. Camera (to take those unexpected need for it) + WiFi are great the 8800.

You may have had it first over Engadget, but Engadget is where the majority of people read about it first. It’s just a more popular site. I only found your site after I read Engadget and then googled for more information.

I’ve heard that Cingular will have an exclusive on it in the US for about 6 months. Also that the wi-fi module will be disabled – too bad, would be really nice to have.
