Dutch intelligence frowns on BlackBerry usage

aivd-logo.jpgIt’s a sad day when a man can’t check his email without checking over his shoulder. With the ongoing issue of security and the BlackBerry growing day to day, Dutch intelligence service AIVD have discouraged use of the device by Dutch members of parliament.

Over 100 BlackBerrys were distributed to the Dutch Christian Democratic party in 2003 and have been utilized by MP’s who rely heavily on the device to keep on top of government ongoings. But now AIVD has swooped in and discouraged the use of the device for fear of pertinent information being leaked.

Has this ever happened to you? I mean, we all know certain devices can’t be brought into certain buildings for various reasons (cameras, etc.), but have you ever been told that you can’t/shouldn’t be using your device? I’d be pretty miffed if the device I’ve come to love rely on was slapped from my hands.
