T-Mobile’s new go-to device

Comments

The reign of the Sidekick may just be over. In an article from the Chicago Tribune, reporter Eric Benderoff reports that the younger and more hip market has grown out of the Sidekick and are getting more mature in their choices. Their new go-to device? The Pearl.

“The Sidekick is no longer the coolest kid on the block.

That honor belongs to the Blackberry Pearl, a T-Mobile exclusive since September that also will go on sale next month at Cingular Wireless. Not far behind the Pearl is the Dash, made for T-Mobile by Taiwan’s HTC. The Dash is nearly as sleek and thin as Motorola’s Q.”

Wait, did you read that? Even the Tribune is speculating the Pearl will drop with Cingular next month. The article goes on to explain that the Pearl is more business-friendly, but more top-button-undone-loose-tie kind of business, if you get my drift. Any thoughts on this, folks? Is the BlackBerry, more specifically the Pearl, the new Sidekick?

Well…the original Sidekick crowd was younger (even though everybody from Snoop to Wayne Newton hawked the thing on TV). But, Paris and the party crowd of celebs are still business people-but they need the good looks to go with it. So, YEAH-I think that the Pearl (and its 8800 sibs) will be the next “hott” thing. We will have to see if the emerging younger stars make one of the upcoming devices “the hottest” like the Dash or even the upcoming Apple Iphone that just went into production with Hon-Hai in Taiwan.
