PDA shipments up 32% in Q3

The world’s getting more and more connected. Or rather, should I say disconnected? No matter which way you want to look at it, the numbers are up, and that’s good news for all of us. According to a report found on Mobile Europe’s website, PDA shipments have gone up a whopping 32% in Q3 – that’s over 4.5 million devices. That’s not even the best news!

“RIM BlackBerries remained the most popular PDAs, accounting for 21 percent of worldwide PDA shipments in the quarter – although RIM only grew 10 percent as it continues shifting its product mix toward smartphones. BlackBerry smartphone shipments exceeded 514 thousand in the third quarter of 2006, up from 188 thousand one year ago.”

I suppose the question needs to be asked. Are you part of this influx? Have you picked up your first PDA this year and are loving it more than your first born (it’s ok to admit that here)? But as is usually the case from RIM, these are extremely encouraging numbers.
