RIM buys Epoch Integration

News has leaked out that RIM purchased Epoch Integration. The small Toronto-based company has for a number of years existed in one form or another in the wireless applications space and most recently, it’s product focus was on administration of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server over-the-air with a BlackBerry – a micro or shall we say nano-niche in the BlackBerry Remote IT Admin business.

We ask when is RIM going to actually grow by acquisition instead of the trail of ma-and-pa shops. Time to buy Palm… or a small country.

    Agreed. Buying Epoch is good news for Nokia…Rim has left the disruptive IT admin companies ripe for the picking…

    Does Rim buy these little shops because they are cheap? Clearly Epoch’s technology is not the best out there but it might be good enough (i.e. the right price vs. the right amount of value) for Rim to bring in-house and grow it.
