While Gmail’s currently getting the thumbs down (and putting them up somewhere else…), there is some love that can still be tossed Google’s way. Thanks to Hayden over at Pinstack, we’re able to get a look at some neat little tricks your device can tackle while surfing Google.
These hints are time and life savers, let me tell you. Perform tasks like looking up definition, get flight status, and even receive weather reports all with a few simple keystrokes. Check out the tips after the jump.
If youâ€™re not sure what the value of pi is, just enter pi into the Search box and press Enter; Google returns 3.14159265. Enter speed of light, and Google returns 299,792,458 m/s. What else can you find?
Converts Units of Measure
Start with the first measure, followed by the word “in,” followed by the second unit of measure. For example, 1 meter in feet, 1 cup in teaspoons or 100 usd in euros.
All you have to do is enter the keywords what is in your query, followed by the word in question. (No question mark is necessary.) For example, what is BlackBerry. You can also use Define: Ex. define: BlackBerry.
Looking for quick facts, Google can help. Fact-based info such as birthdates, birthplaces, population, and so on. All you have to do is enter a query that states the fact you want to know. For example: population Miami, birthplace mark twain, birthday George Bush, die Bob Hope, president germany and more!
You can enter the location as a city name, city plus state, or Zip code. For example, weather Toronto.
For example, to view conditions at the Miami International Airport (with the code MIA), enter mia airport.
American Airlines 812? Search aa812. (ua for United)
Track the status of package deliveries, from the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS. Simply enter the packageâ€™s tracking number into the Google search box and there you go!
