BlackBerry 8800 in the wild?

Oh wow. Just received this email, and pretty excited to share. Even though, sure, we know that BlackBerry 8800s are currently floating around various offices and such, it’s great when we get proof. An admin from miblackberry.com notes from their site statistics that a BlackBerry 8800 has visited their site. The email says “Viewing my websiete stats today I see that I had the visti of 1 user with a agent Blackberry 8800″ – and they’ve got a screencap to prove it. Check out the “proof” after the jump.

So, looks as though someone hit their site on an 8800 around the fifth of this month. It’s kind of hard to prove the validity here, but hey, we can dream. Not the biggest of deals, no, but still – as the (horrible) song goes – let’s give them something to talk about.

If you check your own logs you should now see entries for a BlackBerry 8800 and also for a BlackBerry 9900 – wonder what that is?

FYI – UserAgent spoofing is REALLY easy…

Yeah, UA spoofing is easy. But why would someone be flying around the tubes of the internet with a UA of an 8800 BlackBerry?

There are TONS of 8800′s in the wild…most premier Blackberry developer partners have had their 8800′s for a while now. Apparently, 802.11 hasn’t been working well and RIM is shipping a patch to correct issue. It would be nice if some of these companies shared some info with us, but I’m sure about loosing their privileges with RIM.
However, expect the 8800 soon. :)
