6. Cingular “blows” Pearl launch
You had to know this would show up again. There’s a lot of “controversy” surrounding Cingular’s Pearl launch, a lot of that is thanks to various blogs blowing up over dates and such – but it’s no secret that this was one of the most discussed topics in ’06.
7. BlackBerry 8800 leaked
I know I salivated a bit when information on the 8800’s surfaced, and a judging by my inbox, a lot of you were the same way. The leaks the BlackBerry 8800 have made it one of RIM’s most anticipated devices.
8. RIM’s stock pt. 2
When RIM announced it’s Q2 earnnings, they announced an internal investigation into early stock options. They’ve since failed to get the investigation done on time, resulting in a trading freeze. RIM is now reporting that the final numbers for Q2 should be announced by January 16, 2007.
BlackBerry addiction has been apparent since the first device was rolled out way back when. This year, CrackBerry not only became the word of the year, but it resulted in the creation of the “BlackBerry massage” amongst other things. It was a good year to be an addict (yes, that’s the only time I’ll say that).
10. BlackBerry world domination
This year saw the BlackBerry launch in more countries than ever before. It seems the world is slowly latching onto our favored device. Exciting to see what will happen in 2007, that’s for sure.
