[...] With the release date looming (at least on Cingular), it’s about time we got some decent in-hand shots of RIM’s new 8800 device. Who better to go to then the man who does it best? Boy Genius takes time out of his schedule to take some shots of his well-manicured paws pawing at latest BlackBerry, and it looks pretty great (the device, not the paws). So now it looks like everything’s out on the table now. Everything, that is, except for word from the big boys at Research In Motion. Check out a couple more shots after the break, and even more at Boy Genius’ site. [...]

[...] Think we’d let someone’s mistake become our problem? Pfft - no, thanks. Boy Genius has picked up the slack where the amateur’s left off and has posted a couple BlackBerry 8800 shots himself. Not as many angles as ones before, but at least now you can salivate and not worry about some kid’s pal getting whisked away in a white van by Cingular. Thanks, Boy Genius.
It's funny, but at this point it doesn't really make much difference removing the images...the "damage", if one considers it that, has already been done. The genie of information, once set free, just cannot be put back into the bottle so easily.

I do agree that if one works for a cell phone carrier, and not only leaks images, but leaks images clearly taken in a company store, then that is really taking a risk and being rather cavalier.

That all being said, I still believe that in many cases, these info leaks can actually help sales. Just like with the Pearl, these leaks will only create a rush of demand for the device once it is released.

If corporations were smart they'd actually encourage and participate in this kind of underground marketing...
