BBCool: But who’s giving you the OK on these documents? Surely RIM and whomever else aren’t.
No, obviously not. They haven’t got that smart yet to completely take advantage of the blogging world, but I do have to say, and I might have said this before – RIM definitely did the right thing with the Pearl leak. From my first photo of it ever that was on the Cingular roadmap on Engadget to the live pictures, as upset as they were, they let it go
BBCool: Do you think they’ll ever wise up? And how will they go about it when they do? Random emails to you and I?
No, they’re too corporate. They’re scared because they cant control it. They control every single tiny thing in that company and have no control on the internet/online media/blogs/us. Look at the white Pearl. Did anyone really care? When I confirmed in our first interview, it was fine. Now its on eBay, its pictures on T-Mobile site, no one cares about a white Pearl. The only company that got away with that color thing was Motorola just because people weren’t doing it. Silver, then the black and people were going insane for the black one.
Back to the leaks – RIM is pissed, Cingular is pissed. What can they do? It’s out there now, live pictures of the 8800. I heard that the device was pushed back to march now on Cingular. Maybe April on T-Mobile? Not sure on that one.
BBCool: Oh wow. Not too bad of a delay, I guess.
But honestly, how hard is it? It’s the same device, man. You’re telling me that much has changed? I heard, well this is from a good source of mine and who knows, and I’m not flattering myself but RIM changed some of the specs on the 8800 because of my leaked presentation. Take that as you will…
BBCool: So, ok then, last time you mentioned RIM’s “perfect” device – any news on that front?
Not completely confirmed to me, it’s basically a cross between the camera-less 8800 (Indigo), and the camera one (Crimson), but its thinner than both of them, etc.
BBCool: Have you seen pictures, presentations?
Can’t talk about that yet.
BBCool: I should nickname you “foreplayâ€.
Haha. I’ve got some exciting things coming this and next week, we will see.
BBCool: Ok. Well, I’m hungry for lunch, I’m sure you are, too – and I’m sure you want to go and gawk at the iPhone some more…Last words – be it on the iPhone, RIM, anything?
I ended with this note before, and I will again – I thank everyone for the support, really. From BBCool to every reader that looks at Boy Genius Report and all that. The site is getting over a million hits a month, and for a site that launched around 3 months ago, its unbelievable. I love what i do, and I love providing the info i love to people, so thank you again.
BBCool: One final question -What’s your favourite BlackBerry news source?
Tough one… RIMarkable’s catching up, man! Haha. Definitely BlackBerry Cool.
BBCool: Thanks, BG.
Thank you.
