Mobylo’s MultiAlarm reviewed

The Monday-Friday and Saturday-Sunday alarms are next on the chopping block, and are another great feature to the MultiAlarm. The Monday-Friday alarm is even better for those in the workplace (well, those with the typical M-F 9-5 kind of schedule) as you know that the 5am wake-up you want throughout the week won’t sound off on Saturday morning. Speaking of Saturday morning, the Saturday-Sunday alarm let’s you choose when you want to tackle that hangover by setting an alarm for those days only (might I recommend nothing earlier than noon?).

Need to be sure you’re on your toes at 2pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday? How about at 11pm on Mondays and Tuesdays? Whatever the date and time combination, this is where the custom alarm comes into play. Set a time and choose which days you’d like it to go off, and let the alarm serve it’s purpose. Ideal for status meetings, sporting practices, and marital couples who schedule, you know, that sort of thing.

Mobylo’s installed a neat feature into the MultiAlarm that let’s you decide whether or not you want the aforementioned alarms going off on holidays or not. The application already has a set database of all major US holidays preloaded onto your BlackBerry, but you can add, delete, and edit those to your heart’s content. Being able to choose from various countries would have been a nice addition, but it’s not too much of a hassle to add some dates in.

The big thing about the MutliAlarm is it’s multiple functionalities. You can have all five alarms going at once, all for various reasons. The Mobylo website calls this a “must-have” for BlackBerry users, and we’re going to agree with them. The application works as it should, no bugs to be found, and you better believe it got me to work on time this morning. The MultiAlarm is officially released on January 20th from Mobylo for a nice list price of $29.99 USD, and BlackBerry Cool readers get a 20% discount (until January 31st) when they enter “BLACKBERRYCOOL” as their coupon code when purchasing.

Hmm… I tried MultiAlarm and have a differing opinion as to its value. I think what disappointed me most was that sure, you have 5 alarms, but they all sound the same. So you can’t discern which alarm it is by any audible clue. Given that you can’t choose any of the audible clips that you may already have on your blackberry, midi or mp3, how is it better than the built in calendar application, which allows infinitely multiple alarms?

I believe for the price I was expecting something along the lines of SPB Time in the Pocket PC world or Bob’s Alarm in the Palm world.

The alarm on the Blackberry bites. This one looks better, but does the alarm sound more than three times? On my Razr the alarm goes until you shut it off. With the Blackberry I’m always sleeping through the three times.

I had this one on my pearl and loved it. Changed devices to a curve and lost the app. So I decided to download another one on my curve, I sent mobylo an e-mail asking if I could get another registration code or would I have to purchase the app again. No reply… So I went ahead and purchased it again, what’s 30 bucks (a couple of gallons of gas). When I purchased it, it came with a reply that my PIN was invalied and directed to a website to retrieve my registration code. The website was blank.
On their website is a place to send an e-mail with a promise of a response in less than 24 hours. 72 hours and 4 e-mails later I still have not heard from them.

I purchased MultiAlarm 3 years ago. Broke my Blackberry and got a new one. E-mailed support if they could issue me a new unlock code for my new Blackberry and deactivate the old code. After 4 e-mails sent, I have not received a response for the past year.

I LOVE the application, but keep their customer service in mind if you plan on purchasing the product. I find the lack of service unacceptable after they have collected my $30.

Sorry, I purchased MultiAlarm about 2 years ago, not 3.
