Well done on a very interesting article. We, at Freedom Input Ltd. (we make the Freedom brand of folding bluetooth keyboards for mobile phones and PDA's) have long held the view that eventually the cumbersome laptop will be replaced by the smartphone and an external folding keyboard. We are beginning to see the corporates buying up our keyboards to work with company smartphones to equip their "on the move " executives. In this highly competitive world, it is more and more of a requirement for Companies to send out their execs into the field, rather than hoping the business will come in to the office bound employee. It is also true to say that the world is shrinking at a tremendous rate and business communication can no longer be conducted between the hours of 9am and 5pm. If an employee is to be able to get the work/home balance right, he or she needs to be flexible in their working hours. This is so much easier with Mobile working. So it is not at all suprising that 53% of respondents note that they prefer to work outside the office environment. It is our belief that this figure will grow as mobile devices become more sohisticated. Our portable folding keyboards open into full size keyboards with all the alpha numeric keys so emails and spreadsheets and Internet browsing becomes as easy as if the user was sitting in his office. As the dot mobi revolution continues to evolve and the smartphone becomes ever more sophisicated, we at Freedom look forward to increasingly supporting the mobile worker.
