Jibi-Jabber: If This Girl Was Only More Like My BlackBerry

Comments

In the next few weeks, I’m taking a new job that, to most of my fellow BlackBerry administrators, is what I’d refer to as a a dream job. I’ll echo those sentiments entirely, from top to bottom. What does that have to do with a girl? Well, in my ever-consistent way of making tough decisions exponentially tougher, I decided to get involved with a really beautiful and intelligent female just prior to Valentine’s Day. She has it all – the looks, the smarts, the personality, a body that makes me blush every time I see her, amazing eyes, an awesome smile that lights up a silent room…

…but she’s not as portable as my ever-trusty BlackBerry Pearl, and her breath certainly doesn’t smell like my Pearl in the mornings (albeit, I cannot recall a time when I actually smelled my BlackBerry in the morning).

In the world of geek and chic, there seems to be a certain decided separation from the norm when it comes to personal relationships, but there’s also a certain spectrum of similarities between our devices of choice and our girlfriends. In the middle of the night, it’s almost second nature for me to roll over and read my email on my BlackBerry. Of course, those vibrantly pulsing flashes of red light on my near-closed eye-lids don’t necessarily make my search for a good night’s rest any easier, either. In like fashion, it’s almost second nature for me to roll over to a girl that’s sleeping in my bed and kiss her on the neck or cheek or wherever else may seem convenient at the time – I’m not reading anything on her… unless braille counts, of course.

Even the makers of BlackBerry, Research In Motion, have struggled with making their devices absolutely perfect for everyone, although they’ve come pretty close with more recent efforts. Does this remind anyone of God’s most beautiful creations?

And with all the great features found on both my BlackBerry and this new girl in my life, it seems that moving away is taking one with, while saying goodbye to the other. If it were only in a perfect world that I could have both… But on the flip-side, in the new few weeks, I’ll be replacing/upgrading my BlackBerry Pearl for a BlackBerry 8800. And so the circle of life keeps spinning…

I didn’t get this at all, and it wasn’t compelling enough for me to want to re-read it :p
