Here’s a point I’ve been wanting to say. Everyone has been yelling about 3G for a long time. Do I love 3G? Yes. Would I die without 3G? Yes. But there are 2 main things about 3G on a blackberry that is a problem. One, WHY CANT YOU DOWNLOAD A REAL FILE. Not a 500kb MP3 – why can’t you download a 4MB MP3? Or an .avi file? Who cares if it takes 10 minutes? I could run a damn server from a GPRS Pocket PC. That annoys me completely, that you’re still constricted in downloading.
Second, bottleneck. Unless your going to tether, via a USB cable not bluetooth because of the bluetooth bottleneck, who cares. Your emails won’t come any faster, your web pages will barely load faster, and battery life will suck. It is so frustrating the way BlackBerrys are still restricted, especially on the consumer side. MP3 attachments? A joke. They have to be a certain kHz, a certain bit rate. Forget it – not even worth the effort.
When will it change?
Probably with the 9xxx series. New UI, new OS. If it doesn’t then I’m done with RIM. Bye, bye. Oh, and don’t get excited RIM. I will still post, but I will never use your devices again. and will launch www.smashmyunreleasedblackberry.com.
Or get sponsorship with “Will It Blend?”.
Exactly
I want to ask about the camera quality on the 8300 – how is it?
Pretty good. Worlds better than the Pearl. No more of that green hue when pictures are taken at night, the flash is really good – it’s an average 2 megapixel cam. Everyone, for the most part, thinks, ‘oh ok, 2 megapixel, that’s standard.’ Why? Why won’t a manufacturer throw in a 3 megapixel in a mass market phone? 90% of everything is either 2 megapixels or lower. I want my damn convergence device.
Prediction for the camera on the 9XXX? What mp are you hoping for (realistically)?
I really don’t know. I’ve been told first 9xxx will be suretype (please shoot me). Not even sure if that one will have a camera. It might. And if I had to guess, I’d say 2 megapixel. Watch RIM go back to the drawing board now – ha.
Maybe that’s the Pearl II – the 9100?
Could be
Makes sense to me. Any new word on the 9XXX devices, though? Anything we’ve yet to hear?
Nothing I can say at the moment, sorry
