BBForums celebrates 100,000 users with contest

bbfhooray.jpgNot only is there a long weekend coming up, but we’ve got reason to celebrate going into it (not that there isn’t already, that is). Our good pals over at BlackBerryForums are celebrating the registration of their 100,000th user by offering a contest to all of their members. The winner could walk away with a brand new 8800, or one of a wackload of cases also up for grabs.

All you’ve got to do is a) be a member b) have at least 20 posts by the time the drawing occurs (that happens when the Forum gets to 110,000 users) and c) to enter, you’ve got to private message the 100,000 user. All of the details are ready and waiting for you here. Congratulations, folks. We’d hug you, but that’s just not our style.

    Unfortunately BBForums is the most popular forum on the web for Blackberries. The moderators on the site come from the lowest crud of the earth. I know jibi is a contributor here and Jibi has always been helpful so my last comment was not directed towards him.

    When new users come onto a forum and post a thread titled “I am new please go easy on me”. You know there is a major problem with the community and the moderators.

    To cap it off, there are maybe 10 people who actually know what the hell they are talking about on that site. Everyone else just regurgitates what has been said time and time again.

    Would be great for Rim to open up their own web forum. One with intelligence and respect.

    Thats my rant!

    Why are you so mean-spirited? There are some excellent moderators on BB Forums.

    And I think it can be accurately stated that there are alot more than 10 people who know what they are talking about on this site.

    Yes, sometimes one has to have a thick skin when they post on it. But hey, that’s all part of the experience.

    Krad is just bitter that he was banned for having a bad attitude and treating others rudely, including moderators.

    None of what he says has any merit. Also when he states that there were “maybe 10 people who actually know what the hell they are talking about on that site” he was definitely not one of them, although he may claim he was.

    Just my two cents. I’m sure he’ll have some sort of snide remark however I could care less.

    Seriously though, there are really only 10 people tops who know what they are talking about on that site. Jibi happens to be one of those people and i am not surprised he was asked to write for this site.

    Krad, I’ve never had a problem with you directly, but one thing you have to keep in mind is that forum moderators and administrators respond to complaints. Would I personally like to get rid of the ‘Report this Post’ feature completely? You bet your ass, I would. But unfortunately, it’s not an optional feature (not even sure why that is, to be perfectly honest). So if we get 10 complaints on a user in a single day, then there’s not a problem with the forum/website, there’s a problem with that user. Such is the case with yourself and some of your comments on BBF. To give us the benefit of the doubt, we didn’t ban you upon the first complaint nor the second or third or even the 50th complaint. Aside from a two-member spat that resulted in a LOT of spam in the form of complaints about one another over a few days, you had more reported posts than anyone else on the forum. Perhaps that speaks mountains about yourself; or perhaps it just reiterates that while some may seem to be more openly critical or shell-less on the internet, others expect it to follow the same rules as we do in real life (I’m not a fan of the latter).
