I don't mess with BB's. Woop-de-doo, you get to scroll with a bal that lights up whenever someone calls. I just got into an arguement with an ATT employee about this debate.
I don't think BB's can be used as a modem like my I607, and if they do, more power to them.
If BB's will link with MAC and put Tiger software on it, I will crush my Blackjack, sim, SD card and all and go bankrupt for one.

Everyone that has been putting WM down due to it's reliant on Exchange server to push emails are only looking at less than half the picture. To have BlackBerry receive emails, there needs to be a hefty amount of investment by your carrier to setup proprietary RIM servers to enable this. therefore if you want to switch carriers, you have to be sure they can support BlackBerry. And when you consider travelling overseas and roaming, you will be paying a hefty amount to receive those emails as compared to WM if you are using POP as you will only require WiFi or GPRS to get your emails.

If you are just concern with making phone calls and receiving email, then the BlackBerry does that 5/5, but if you want to do that and take your work internationally, you are looking at 2/5 depending on where you are travelling to. I found it extremely difficult to customise the BlackBerry, but with WM it was surprisingly easy to add, tweak videos, music, pictures, Office files, java applications…etc. So if you know what you doing and want to do much more, I will not choose BlackBerry.

Well, the two phones compared here are not as similar as they appear-despite its lack of GPS and a full QWERTY keyboard, I think that the Pearl is much closer to the audience Samsung is marketing the BlackJack in. Unfortunately, RIM has yet to release 3G on either the Pearl or 8800 series. The Pearl has a nicer camera, and better battery life. Also, the BlackJack has very cramped controls-how CNET could give it an equal score in navigation makes no sense.

That said, I still like the BlackJack better. For starters, oddly enough, it works with my Linux system much better, despite the Windows Mobile environment. It has more features, and 3G. I am waiting for a BlackBerry with 3G and a camera integrated into their full QWERTY models-that would be nice. As for the iPhone, a revolution it's not. Sleek, stylish, and nice-but the only thing new is the iPod (and MacOSX on a phone, but that is just Apple refusing to use Windows Mobile or some other OS, and being Apple, I doubt there will ever be MacOSX on any other phone). Visual voicemail is nice, and being able to create a conference call, and the touch screen works great. Still, it wants to market itself at the young, techno-hip, music listening iPod market-and does not have a single game on it. Not like a game would even be usable with the touch screen-even the DS had buttons, and computer games use the keyboard AND the mouse. The iPhone is closer to the BlackJack-for home and personal use much more then for work-the BlackBerry has both beat there (and no, visual voice mail is NOT enough).

For the price of an iPhone 8GB, you could get a BlackBerry and an iPod (or a BlackJack and an iPod). The only thing new is the widescreen iPod with touch controls-and I personally think Apple will release a standalone iPod with the features from the iPhone.

So I have a little experience with the Blackjack- I had that for about 2 weeks before the Pearl came out (remember that? Cingular fumbling the release dates).
I haven't used the 8800, but I use my Pearl every day. This is what I can say.

1. In 2 weeks and countless phone calls to tech support I could NEVER get my MSN premium email account to work with the blackjack. Or any other email, for that matter. 15 min with my new Pearl I had my email, just like with my previous BB.

2. The Blackjack comes with 2 batteries, warning bells should have gone off, but I thought "Wow, how cool of Samsung to provide for us heavy users." The truth of the matter is, even using both I would only get maybe 10 hours out of the phone. But I'm a HEAVY user; I sit at my job and play on my phone a bunch. With any blackberry I've ever owned, I can do the same thing for 15 hours and still be on 40% power.

3 Geez, xm radio on my cell phone is really cool. I think my wife will love one more thing to raise our already $120 a month cell phone bill

4 Blackjack has not memory expansion. So if you DON'T want to pay for XM radio, you also can't save your own MP3 on it.

My main point is that Blackberries may not have fancy commercials, but simply put- BBs do what they are supposed to do better than anything else. They send and receive email and take phone calls. My BB does much, much more for me, very simply too.
Until somebody else comes even halfway up the mountain that RIM has built, I will never look at another phone manufacturer.
