Oh, geez. I love it when these press shots flourish out of the blue, always a nice surprise. Thanks to Ho-Fo, Phone Arena, and Gizmodo individually for their info about Verizon’s upcoming release of the BlackBerry 8830 “Cyclone”. They’re all pretty much regurgitating what we told you a couple of months ago (CDMA/GSM hybrid, QVGA screen, microSD slot, and 3G EV-DO support, no camera, etc.), but now we’ve got press shots, which can only mean it’s on its way (we’ve been hearing May, right? June at the latest).
The press shots make the device look a whole lot like the Q, and I’m not sure if I’m a fan. The completely silver back is different than the black covering we’ve been seeing on 8300 test devices, and that might have something to do with the Q thoughts, too. But Verizon customers, I can actually smell your saliva at this point. Start blowing the balloons – the excitement’s bound to come to a head in no time.

NOW THATS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT VERIZON!!! Apologies for the caps. I like the silver look, woulda prefer black. I wonder how much is that gonna be full retail?
It’s going to be so hard to wait till September for my 8830… that’s when my ‘new every 2′ kicks in.
Count ‘em down!
The latest BlackBerry will go on sale next month for $300 after a $100 rebate if you sign a new two-year customer agreement. The company is offering an additional $100 off if you sign up for certain “qualifying voice and data plans.”
Any idea on full retail price?
Similar question, thinking about switching to Verizon, like the BB for the obvious reasons, but tried the phone in the store and it had “delays” when calling a local plain old telephone system (POTS) land line. The LG8700/LG8600/Motorola RAZR were crystal clear. Not sure if the phone needed a software update or if the unit was there for a reason, but why would you demo an inferior product? Echo Gretchen & Bryan, very interested in how everyones BB 8830 is performing in regards to weak or problematic areas as compared to a standard phone. Being a Navy Sailor I will be faced with constant weak signals aboard ship and need a phone with stellar reception. Love to have the BB, but if it can’t manage to obtain or keep a phone call then it’s a non-starter. Hope this was just a VZW store problem. Thanks in Advance.
