Word on the street is that RIM is launching an upgrade for their BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) customers today carrier-wide. BIS 2.3 will apparently offer improved syncing with Yahoo! Mail and Gmail. How improved? We’re talking full on real-time push email for both, ladies and gents.
This is great news for any non-BES BlackBerry user, as well as BES users who like to rock Gmail whilst they work. Our little tipster also told us that BIS 2.3 will allow users to accept/decline wireless meeting requests, as well as offer improved email forwarding from your “carrier.blackbery.net” account. The future is now, people!

Hey, this is actually working for me and it ROCKS!
Cingular on 7130C
How do we know if we’re at 2.3 now? I don’t see anything different on the BIS at https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw
Some carriers are slower than others, and I would bet some users would have to call in and get them to delete your account and recreate it for 2.3.
Instant delivery of GMail and Yahoo account emails is nothing new. There is knowledge base article from RIM which was published end of last year: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB10272&sliceId=SAL_Public&dialogID=19500883&stateId=1%200%2019504565
Hi!
Instant delivery of my gmail-accounts works for me like forever…
Greetings

Any carriers that have this yet, as I am a vzw user.
I just called VZW and they are still testing it.
instant gmail push was working for a day or two, but now its gone back to crappy old 15min+ delay
might just switch to nokia & yahoo
