
New York Times has writeup of a man they dubbed an “email innovator” and his plans to bring free push-email to the masses. The man, Mr. Fodor, a 43 year old French computer programmer, said that in the early 1990s he worked on “push†e-mail services that predated the filing of important patents in this area.
He intends to fight back not by suing everyone under the sun like NTP, but by releasing a new free push email service called Freedom Mail which will be supported by small text ads.
“Freedom Mail will liberate wireless e-mail from expensive and spurious litigation driven by very few patent owners for the sole purpose of dominating global wireless e-mail communications.â€
