Hey, I was trying to find out how to get AIM on my new curve, and there is a download at http://wireless.sra.com/ramble/ to get it. It's free, but I'm not sure if AT&T will charge me or not. It's Sunday, and so I can't call today and ask. I downloaded it and it works, but if I am hit with a charge, there is going to be some issues.

[...] Anyway the other thing I’ve been hunting for is a free MSN client for my Berry. It has been a fruitless search, until yesterday: So yesterday we let you know about ICQ and AIM becoming available for the BlackBerry (and Windows Live Messenger has been added into the fray since). We’ve received a bunch of emails from various tipsters, but a couple were more helpful than others. BBCool contributor and Forums moderator Jibi (with the assistance of another user, jungleland), have put together a great guide for all of the clients, and you can check that out here (all information’s been confirmed by the Boy Genius).
Just a heads up, although AIM was released for Blackberry, if you are with Cingular as a service carrier, then you are lucked out. The program will install properly, but when you go to sighn on get a error message. Please visit www.blackberry.com/aim to activate your handheld for AOL Instant Messenger” Look familiar??..Spend 8 hours on Customer service, the conclusion is that they dont support it completely yet...The all New AT@T Wireless.

I think they will be made publicly available on April 11 when RIM disclose their Q4 results.

I downloaded the Live Messenger client and got it installed. However when I tried to sign on, it complains about the service book missing.

From experience they usually push the service book and the apps when the software is available (remember Yahoo and GoogleTalk) I didnt have to download those apps and one day after they announce these become publicly availble they got pushed onto my 8700. I am keeping my fingers crossed that April 11 will be the day.

Diddo, got it installed and got the same message. I have a Pearl with Cingular/AT&T. I am sure this will have to allowed by the carriers and tracked via the messaging server so that Cingular can gouge us for each individual message.

BBF member Jungleland was the one who actually found the AIM link. Not sure if he knew about the ICQ link or not but on a whim I tried it and it pulled up the ICQ page.

Still unable to get it to work however the process has started anyway.

Again thanks Jungleland.

I got it installed without an issue, but when I go to sign in, it says "Please visit www.blackberry.com/aim to activate your handheld for AOL Instant Messenger" - but when I go there, the page just says: "AOL Instant Messenger for BlackBerry - Downloads via a USB connection are not enabled for this product. Please visit our mobile download site at using the browser on your BlackBerry® smartphone." even though it's already installed.

Soooooo close!
