I love my blackberry. I think the GPS should be an option in the package, but not a must. A good improvement could be the possibility to broadcast either TV or radio, faster data rate, and more compatible video players decoders. you cant play YOUTUBE videos right now. Also, the IMS for MSN software is SOOO crappy, there is room for improvements there...My two cents..

[...] Our trusty LBS provider, TeleNav, is now offering the handy services of TeleNav Traffic to AT&T customers using a BlackBerry 8800, BlackBerry 8100, BlackBerry 8700c, and the newfangled BlackBerry 8300. AT&T joins the ranks of Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile (among others) to carry TeleNav GPS Navigator, even though it’s been packing Track for awhile now. This is a free upgrade for anyone already subscribing to the TeleNav GPS Navigator for $10/month to get up-to-date traffic information and quick rerouting options. The 8800’s built-in GPS receiver gets some use out of the service, which means one less Bluetooth doohickey to carry around if you’ve got one. TeleNav has a solid reputation, which is important considering how hard it is to find a good GPS system these days. GPS was right up there with Wi-Fi on the hype-o-meter at WES, helped in no small part by TeleNav’s presence there. [...]

[...] So, some of us are looking forward to the BlackBerry Curve, and others the World Edition 8830, and maybe even to a new Pearl, but I bet rumblings of an 8820 model months ago had taken a backseat to all of that.
[...] Samsung’s card will be clocking in at a respectable 16MBps read speed and 6MBps write. The card is going to be running in a High Capacity (SDHC) format which isn’t backwards compatible, though. So while the Pearl is left in the dust, it is yet to be seen if these new cards will work with the Curve. The all-knowing Wikipedia has it that the Treo 680 works with SDHC, cards, despite official specs. It would be nice if future BlackBerrys managed to get some of the same compatibility before these 8GB cards are out. Still no word on price, but it’s a ways down the road.
Just to clarify, I have reason to believe the 9900 will feature that screen resolution, although I'm not one hundred percent sure. As we discussed, it seems that RIM is debunking that rumor, so let's keep it in the netherworld for now. Also, a screen's physical size (millimeters, inches) has nothing to do with the resolution (pixels) - the higher quality the screen (dpi), the more the pixels can be in a constrained physical space. For example, you can change your computer's monitor display from 1024x768 to 1600x1200 with a noticeable improvement on quality (depending on the monitor), although the size of the content is noticeably smaller (but more defined).

In all honesty, I think it'd be VERY wise for RIM to shrink the physical size of the screen for the 9900 (as compared to the 8700, 8800) while increasing the pixel size (384x288). What would this accomplish? Well, HTML emails are coming in the near-term pipeline. Enhanced attachment viewing and editing in true form would be a possibility (no more conversions to text). HTML webpage viewing and/or vector-based viewing would now be a reality (iPhone, anyone?). Multimedia functionality and potential would be more than vastly improved. Anyhow, that's just a few ideas to throw around.

What it *really* needs are some improvements in basic functionality: the ability to capture movies as well as still shots; the ability to take voice notes that *don't* have to be sent back to yourself as MMS messages; support for per-contact ringtones, or at least per-group ringtones (family, co-workers, relatives, unknown callers, etc.); a better speaker cover design that doesn't require case mods (holes???); a better fitting battery cover that doesn't need a business card to prop it up; the ability to *disable* the rollerball "spin" so the ringer isn't shut off when you remove the Pearl from its case; etc.

I mean, I *love* my Pearl, but there are some simple design changes that would improve it significantly. And some of those "fixes" could be put into software *NOW*.
